KUCHING, Jan 23: Floodwater levels at Kampung Stass, Bau have risen to four-feet last night, affecting 33 houses and their residents.
According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received reports from residents of Kampung Stass at 10.50pm last night about water levels rising for low-lying residences.
Bomba personnel from the Bau fire station were dispatched to monitor the situation there but they were unable to reach the area as the road was submerged under six feet of floodwater.
“It was reported that some residents were reluctant to evacuate, but Bomba personnel have advised them to move to higher ground and safer areas if the water level continues to rise,” it said.
It noted that floodwater levels in the area continue to rise as a result of the ongoing heavy rainfall. – DayakDaily
