KUCHING, Jan 11: Forty-one temporary evacuation centres (PPS) sheltering 3,890 people from 1,175 households are currently active in Sarawak as of 8am today.
According to the Malaysian Civil Défense Force (APM), the Serian division has the most active PPS at 25, with 2,311 people from 700 households.
This is followed by Samarahan with six PPS for 636 people from 196 households, Bintulu with two PPS for 372 people from 130 households, and Sibu, also with two PPS for 245 people from 66 households.
Meanwhile, Mukah recorded that 165 people from 44 households are seeking shelter at one PPS.
As for Miri, there are currently four PPS for 161 people from four households.
Overall, the APM noted that flood evacuations are on an upward trend.
Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to remain alert and comply with evacuation instructions when issued. — DayakDaily
