KUCHING, June 20: Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) Kuching and S4S Miri will be organising a “flash mob” on June 21.

For S4S Kuching, it will be held 9am at Kuching Waterfront while Miri will hold its event at 11am at Petronas Carigali SB.

Themed “Get Petronas out of Sarawak”, the flash mob is to gather to show S4S’ strong stance that Sarawak’s resources should be returned to Sarawak.

S4S spokesperson Tan Kok Chiang told DayakDaily that the federal government has been holding on to the resources which belong to Sarawak for a very long time.

“It is now time for the federal government to return to Sarawak, its oil and gas as well as other rights enshrined by the Malaysian Agreement 1963,” said Tan.

Tan said the gatherings will also be held to show their support for the Sarawak government in regaining the long lost rights of Sarawak.

“We choose this date to do it because this is the day of the Federal court hearing for the case of Petronas versus Sarawak,” said Tan.

Petronas has filed a motion for leave to sue the Sarawak government based on the Petroleum Development Act 1974.

The case which was supposed to be heard on June 12, however, was postponed to June 21 after the Federal Attorney-General requested the federal government to do so as the federal government was deciding whether to intervene. — DayakDaily
