KOTA SAMARAHAN, July 16: The upgrading of five roundabouts along the Kuching-Samarahan Highway will be fully completed by October this year, said Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
According to a report by TVS, Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, said the project, which has been delayed since 2017, is now 58 per cent ahead of schedule.
“We are very happy with the progress that we have seen. I asked the contractor if they could do it and why the other contractors had so many problems, which led to projects becoming ‘sick’.
“Other contractors may have to learn from them, and Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) also has to study how this contractor can successfully implement the works to become ahead of schedule when the project has been delayed since 2017,” he said after a working visit to the site near Sarawak Heart Centre here yesterday (July 15).
Also present were Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos and Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) director Zafrin Zakariah. — DayakDaily
