Five plead guilty to bullying teenage boy in Miri

MIRI, July 25: Four juveniles and one adult charged over their involvement in a bullying incident — a video of which has gone viral on social media — pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning.

The sixth accused did not appeared in the court.

The five accused pleaded guilty to rioting as soon as the charges were read before Magistrate Md Syafique Md Hilmie.

They were charged over the bully incident which took place at a building still under construction in Senadin on May 23 this year.

They pleaded guilty for being involved in the incident, with intention of hurting a 13-year-old male student.

The accused were detained between July 15 and July 18 after the video of the bully incident went viral on social media and were charged under Section 147 of the Penal Code ehich provides for a jail term of up to two years or fine, or both upon conviction.

The Magistrate Court fixed August 28 for further mention of the case. Md Syafique set bail at RM 3,000 in one surety for the offences. — DayakDaily
