KUCHING, March 14: Five Sarawakian entrepreneurs receive Shell Livewire Sarawak 2021 and Tegas Awards.
The winners were Aaron Tan Chun Kwang (UAS Mapping), Nisha Haslinda Hasbi (Bintulucoffeescape), Anne Isabelle Chi (Ruti Kupi), Tom Low Sing Ho (Bless Borneo Camper) and Muhammad Afiq Hariz Khatem (Komubox).
They all received a start-up fund of RM10,000 from Shell and an additional RM5,000 from Tegas, including a year of business coaching and access to facilities and opportunities made available by Tegas.
The winners would also be given the opportunity to connect with the global LiveWire ecosystem and share their knowledge with other entrepreneurs around the globe while standing a chance to compete in the annual Shell Global Top Ten Innovators Awards.
During today’s Shell LiveWire Sarawak 2021 Ceremony Award, Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh said entrepreneurship played a vital role for Sarawak towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He said it helped generate meaningful employment, which contributes to ending poverty and creating decent work and economic growth.
“I am happy to see that the Shell LiveWire programme supports local entrepreneurs to access knowledge, skills, networks and resources while turning their business ideas into successful enterprises.
“Furthermore, as we can witness from this programme, entrepreneurship goes a long way in promoting gender equality by developing women entrepreneurs and creating employment for the fairer sex,” he said.
Apart from that, entrepreneurs’ innovative solutions also help protect and conserve lives on land and below water.
“Hence, as Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, I fully support entrepreneurship programmes like Shell LiveWire,” he said. ― DayakDaily
