Five hectares of oil palm plantation burnt in Saratok, firefighters contain two hectares

SARATOK, April 1: Five hectares of an oil palm plantation in Kampung Kupang, Saratok, were burnt early today.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Saratok, led by Operations Commander PB Ismail Mirzza Iskandar, responded to the emergency following a call received at 8.39am.

Firefighters deployed two 600-foot hoses and a Ziegler pump, using water from open sources to combat the blaze.

So far, approximately two hectares have been successfully brought under control and extinguished, while operations continue to tackle the remaining three hectares.

No casualties have been reported, and updates on the progress of the firefighting operation are expected as the situation develops. — DayakDaily
