KUCHING, Feb 27: Police have busted a suspected prostitution activity at an apartment along Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Hj Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here yesterday (Feb 26), with five foreign nationals, aged between 20 and 30, arrested, says Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu.
“The case is being investigated under Section 372A of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of imprisonment for up to 15 years, whipping, and a fine; and Section 372B of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to one year or a fine or both,” he said in a statement.
He said the suspects could also face charges under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for breaching pass or permit conditions, carrying a fine of up to RM1,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.
He also added they could also be charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, which carries up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM10,000, or whipping up to six times.
