Five evacuation centres set up in state as flood waters rise

KUCHING, Feb 4: A total of five temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were open in five districts throughout the state in Serian, Samarahan, Kapit and Bintulu, to relocate those affected by floods since yesterday.

Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) in a statement today, said in the central region, SK Nanga Embuau PPS in Kapit recorded a total of 77 individuals from Kampung Rh Kulleh in Nanga Embuau, while Tatau Sports Hall PPS in Bintulu reported a total of eight individuals relocated from Kampung Dagang in Tatau.

According to the statement, the most recent PPS that was open is the Lubok Buntin Community Hall in Kota Samarahan after a continuous rain overnight affected a total of two families (10 individuals) from Kampung Lubok Buntin and Kampung Benat.

“In the central region, SK Nanga Embuau PPS in Kapit recorded a total of 77 individuals from Kampung Rh Kulleh in Nanga Embuau, while the Tatau Sports Hall PPS in Bintulu reported a total of eight individual relocated from Kampung Dagang in Tatau,” it said.

The statement noted, in Serian district, two PPS were open in SK Tebakang Hall and Kampung Slabi Entukuh Hall, where a total of 55 individuals were relocated from Kampung Tebakang Melayu and Kampung Slabi Entukuh. -DayakDaily
