Five compounds issued for playing basketball among 35 SOP violations during last 24 hours

KUCHING, July 19: Police have issued five compounds for playing basketball and one compound for organising kite competition during Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan in the State.

According to a report from Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the police issued 35 compounds yesterday for violation of the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the prevention of Covid-19.

Among them were for failure to scan the MySejahtera QR code for checking in into premises, gathering without physical distancing, playing basketball, entering Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) area without permission, bringing children below the age of 12 to public places, organising kite competition and did not provide proper enter and exit lane with a distance of one metre for one premises.

As for location, Kuching recorded the highest number of compounds issued with nine compounds followed by Bintulu with eight, Miri (6), Tatau (6), Marudi (5) and Bau (1).

The 35 compounds being issued raised the cumulative number of compounds issued to date to 9,407.

As for local authorities, there were six compounds issued for various offences.

They are three offences for not registering for checking in using MySejahtera app, two offences for not updating the registration book and one offence for not wearing a face mask.

The compounds were issued by the Bau District Council, Serian District Council, Betong District Council and the Bintulu Development Authority. — DayakDaily
