Fishing trip turned tragic for 3 buddies as third body found

LAWAS, Sept 11: The third missing angler, Mohd Amirul Bakar who went fishing with two other friends at sea near Pulau Sari, was found at 4.50pm today.

The body of Mohd Amirul, 26, was found floating about 10 nautical miles from the island by Limbang Marine police that were part of the search and rescue (SAR) team.

Faruk Arina Ahmad Sabri, 29, Yeu Chee Tiong, 30, and Amirul had embarked on a fishing trip to Pulau Sari on Monday.

Another friend, who owns the boat, lodged a missing person report with the police on the same day after failing to reach the victim’s mobile phone from 4pm onwards.

Lawas Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), in a statement, said Amirul’s body was lifted into their boat at 6pm, before it was handed over to the police.

Yeu was found yesterday at 8.35am, trapped in between rocks at the vicinity of Sungai Labik-Labik.

Faruk’s body was found floating near Pulau Sari Besar on the same day as Yeu, at 11.05pm, about 450m away from where Yew was found.
