KUCHING, Nov 10: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Dudong branch chief Wong Ching Yong is the first aspiring candidate here to buy a candidate nomination form for the upcoming Sarawak Election.

He bought the form from Dudong constituency returning officer Abdul Razak Awang Bini at Sibu Municipal Council this morning.

The nomination form which costs RM20 per copy must be completed by individuals intending to stand as an election candidate in any constituency.

Wong, 63, is a chartered accountant by profession.

He has been the SUPP Dudong chairman since 2017 and was appointed Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) deputy chairman on Aug 1, 2020.

When contacted, Wong said he understood that the party’s central leaderhship has yet to announce SUPP’s candidates for the constituencies the party is eyeing but he would just like to think positive.

“Whether I will be chosen as the SUPP candidate, I leave it to the president (Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian) and GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) chairman Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“If I am chosen, this will be my first attempt and I want to be better prepared,” said Wong. — DayakDaily
