First group of 142 Hajj pilgrims from Sarawak depart from KIA tonight

KUCHING, June 23: The first group comprising 142 Hajj pilgrims from Sarawak will depart from Kuching International Airport (KIA) at 10.55pm tonight for Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The group will continue their flight via Malaysia Airlines to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and is expected to arrived at 6.55am local Jeddah time.


Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, were also present to convey their well wishes to the pilgrims during the departure ceremony held at Hotel Raia, tonight.

Speaking during the ceremony, Abang Johari said a total of 344 Sarawakians were selected to the perform the Hajj this year.

He also hoped that the number will be increased following the easing of the Covid-19 situation globally next year. — DayakDaily
