KUCHING, April 24: First gas is expected to flow from Shell Malaysia’s Timi sweet gas and oil project in offshore Bintulu by the end of the year.

This was revealed to reporters by Shell Malaysia country chair Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman at the Shell Raya open house held at a local hotel here today.

“Timi is currently being constructed and developed. So, if everything goes well, we should have first gas before the end of this year,” she said.

She added that Timi is ahead of the Rosmari-Marjoram sour gas project, which occupies the same deep-water field at Block SK 318.

Regarding Rosmari-Marjoram’s progress, Siti Hurrairah said the land was cleared, and the first piling was recently completed.

She said the first gas from the Rosmari-Marjoram project, one of Shell’s largest projects in Malaysia, is expected by the end of 2026.

“This is one of the biggest Shell projects in Malaysia. So, really exciting times are ahead of us.

“It’s an integrated development. Gas will be produced from our offshore fields in Sarawak and then fed into the plant in Bintulu.

“And from the gas plant in Bintulu, it will go to the MLNG (Malaysia LNG) plant to produce LNG (liquefied natural gas),” Siti Hurrairah explained.

She said once production starts in 2026, Rosmari-Marjoram is expected to produce about 750 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscf/d).

Meanwhile, the Shell Raya open house event was graced by the presence of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, as well as Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
