KUCHING, Aug 14: The tea house or canteen at Malaysia-China Friendship Park here has had a huge make-over and is now occupied by premium tea beverage brand outlet CHAGEE Malaysia today.

Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said CHAGEE originated from Yunnan, China and is one of the earliest tea house chains in the region.

He said the newly opened store in Friendship Park is the brand’s first-ever outlet in Sarawak.

“The flagship store, one of its four special flagship stores and the 40th in Malaysia, will be officially opened tomorrow (Aug 14) at 2pm by (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.

“Had the honour of visiting the flagship store, which started serving local customers yesterday (Aug 12).

“Quite a unique experience (preparing) tea (drinks) with modern twists, (it was) worthwhile to try out,” said Dr Sim on social media.

Meanwhile, Wee said in his ShallWeeTalk Facebook live session yesterday that CHAGEE was selected from a few proposals submitted to Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

He said CHAGEE, as a premium brand introducing Chinese tea culture in a modern way, suited the concept of the old tea house and the park commemorating Malaysia-China diplomatic relations. — DayakDaily
