Fire victims of Rumah Nura receive financial aid from Bintulu MP

KUCHING, Sept 15: Fire victims of Rumah (Rh) Nura Buling in Sungai Teban, Labang, in Bintulu, received financial aid from Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.

Tiong, who is also the Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Cultures (Motac), said several wheelchairs were also donated to residents in need.

“I saw fit to help them with some financial assistance on a personal basis to support their recovery, including RM20,000 to the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and RM1,000 to each of the 23 affected households.

“This assistance is to help the residents purchase essential goods, as well as for school supplies such as uniforms, stationery, and books,” he said in a statement today.

Tiong said during hisrecent  visit to the longhousy, he was also made to understand that the longhouse location has become unsuitable for livingin  andthat  the longhouse will be relocated due to poor soil condition and recurring floods.

He said that the JKKK of Rumah Nura will convene a meeting to develop temporary resettlement plan for the victim.

He also given assurance that the Bintulu Service Centre will provide maximum support and assistance within its capacity to help the victims get through this difficult time and return to normal life as soon as possible.

On Sept 12, a fire razed the 23-door Rh Nura in Sungai Labang, Bintulu leaving 350 residents homeless. — DayakDaily
