Fire victims in Bintawa Industrial Estate receive financial aid

KUCHING, Sept 18: Eight families affected by a factory fire in Bintawa Industrial Estate here have received financial assistance today.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat and former Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang chipped in to assist the victims.

According to a press release, members of the eight families were workers at one of the factories affected.


They were from the Bukit Saban state constituency.

Meanwhile, two factories with one empty and the other used for storage at Jalan Gedung here were razed in a morning fire on Sept 10.

Initial investigations revealed that the fire started from an empty factory building and later spread to the adjacent factory.

It was estimated that 80 per cent of the premises were damaged in the incident.
