Fire razes workers’ quarters in Sibu

SIBU, Nov 2: A fire razed a six-door workers’ quarters at Jalan Seduan here at midnight.

According to the Sibu Fire and Rescue senior officer Shairulnizam Wailiei, 13 firefighters from the Sungai Merah fire station including its Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) unit were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12.39am.

“Upon arrival, the wooden structure worker’s quarters was burnt at almost 100 per cent. An overhaul works was carried out before the operation ended to ensure there was no other source that could reignite the fire,” said Shairulnizam in a statement.


He added that the operation ended at 1.32am.

There were no casualties reported in the incident. The cause of fire and total loss are currently under investigation. — DayakDaily
