KUCHING, Feb 13: Construction materials intended for a new cold storage facility were destroyed in a fire at a factory at Batu 14½, Jalan Kuching–Serian, this afternoon.
In a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 3.33pm, and firefighters from the Siburan station were deployed, assisted by the Kota Sentosa and Kota Samarahan stations.
Upon arrival, it was noted that the fire involved a stack of freezer wall panel forms measuring 30×60 square feet per piece, with 15 pieces in total. The panels, intended for the construction of a new cold storage building wall, were destroyed.
The fire did not involve the main building structure, and no casualties were reported.
Firefighting operations were carried out by deploying one 300-foot hose line with two nozzles. A forklift was also used to move the burnt wall panels to a safe location.
After ensuring the fire was completely extinguished, the operations team returned to the station. — DayakDaily
