Fire razes a nine-door workers’ quarters in Jalan Khung Phin

KUCHING, Oct 24: An afternoon fire razed a nine-door workers’ quarters belonging to a factory at Jalan Khung Phin today.

All the workers were away and no injuries were reported.

According to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, 20 firefighters from Batu Lintang and Tabuan Jaya stations were deployed to the scene in response to an emergency call on the incident at 2.57pm.

Upon arrival, operations commander TPgB Raffi Saibi reported that the 100×30 feet quarters was already 90 percent destroyed.

Firefighters recovered five barrels of LPG gas from the scene.

Firefighters also removed five barrels of LPG gas from the scene during the overhaul process.

The operation ended at 4.13pm and the cause of fire is under investigation. —DayakDaily
