SIBU, Sept 23: Three wooden houses in Kampung Nangka here were destroyed in a fire this morning, rendering 16 people homeless.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak had swiftly dispatched firefighters from the Sibu Central, Sungai Merah and Sibu Jaya stations to the scene after receiving a distress call at 10.44am.
Upon their arrival, the Bomba teams discovered that flames had engulfed the three houses.
Firefighters acted quickly to extinguish the flames, bringing the fire under control and preventing it from spreading to other houses.
They also conducted a thorough overhaul exercise to ensure there were no lingering sources of ignition. The operation concluded at 1pm.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, while the cause of the fire and the extent of the losses incurred are still under investigation. ā DayakDaily
