KUCHING, Aug 2: A family of nine including three handicapped persons were left homeless after their house was destroyed by fire this morning.
The single storey house at Lorong 1, Debi Garden in Kenyalang Park, was 70 per cent destroyed.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received an emergency call at 11.07am and 25 firemen from Padungan and Batu Lintang fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
Operations commander Sahabuddin Abang reported that the fire started from one of the bedroom. Bomba personnel managed to put out the fire by 11.24am.
At the time of the incident, none of the residents were at home. Loss of properties and the cause of the fire were yet to be ascertained. — DayakDaily
