MARUDI, Sept 14: Six houses in Kampung Long Mekabar, located in the interior of Ulu Baram, were destroyed in an early morning fire.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak was alerted to the incident at 8.25am today and a team of firefighters from the Marudi Station was deployed.
According to the operation commander, the fire broke out around 3am, completely razing six non-permanent houses.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
However, firefighters faced significant challenges accessing the remote village, which is about 302 kilometres from Marudi fire station, requiring over eight hours of travel to reach the scene. — DayakDaily
