BINTANGOR, Oct 6: A seven-door block of Rumah James Brandah longhouse at Muara Lunut here was engulfed in flames today.
According to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak, a team of firefighters from Bintangor Station was dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 3.33pm.
The team had to use a ferry to reach the longhouse, which was situated on the opposite bank of Sungai Rajang Muara Payang.
Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighters acted immediately to bring the fire under control and successfully prevented its spread to an adjacent block, located just five metres away.
Regrettably, the fire also caused partial damage to three other houses and a community hall, although four other houses were spared.
The operation concluded at 6.30pm, with no reported casualties or injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
