SIBU, July 25: A fire engulfed five houses and partially damaged two others in Kampung Hilir this morning, leaving 66 residents displaced.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sibu Central, with assistance from the Sungai Merah and Sibu Jaya stations, responded to the emergency call at 8.13am.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that seven non-permanent structures were affected by the blaze.
Three of the houses were unoccupied. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Firefighters immediately launched both defensive and offensive firefighting strategies to contain the flames, using water sources from nearby hydrants and fire engines.
The fire was successfully brought under control by 12pm, followed by overhauling operations to eliminate any remaining ignition sources and ensure the site’s safety. — DayakDaily
