SIBU, Jan 10: A fire completely engulfed a 40-door workers’ quarters next to Hann’s Residence at Jalan Wong King Huo this morning, leaving all 14 Indonesian workers homeless.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sibu Central received the emergency call at 9.10am and swiftly deployed a team of firefighters to the scene, with additional support from the Sungai Merah station.
Upon arrival, firefighters successfully prevented the flames from spreading to Block 2, which housed six occupied units, and Block 3, which had six unoccupied units.
Firefighters utilised both offensive and defensive firefighting strategies, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant to combat the blaze.
The operation was fully concluded by 10am after ensuring the fire was completely extinguished and the site was secure. — DayakDaily
