KUCHING, Nov 13: The Sarawak Finance Ministry has established a Disciplinary Action Committee on Non-Performing Contractor to avoid delay in project delivery.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this has been one of the four initiatives of the Ministry to continue to enhance and strengthen accountability, transparency and efficiency in all State procurement processes and procedures.

Uggah who is also Deputy Chief Minister said other initiatives included the review and improvement on the State Procurement Guidelines or Manual for implementation by all State ministries, departments and statutory bodies.

It also included increasing limit of authority of Divisional Tender Board from RM500,000 to RM2 million.

The Ministry has also embarked on the study on State-e-Procurement to implement an online procurement system, said Ugah while delivering his ministerial winding up speech at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) at DUN complex here today.

Meanwhile, in response to Kota Sentosa assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen’s statement that 2018 Sarawak Budget was a deficit instead of a surplus one, Uggah said such statement was unfounded and misleading.

“Based on the Audited State Financial Statement for 2018, the State has registered a surplus of RM10.13 million,” said Uggah who is also Bukit Saban.— DayakDaily
