KUCHING, Dec 10: Fellow election candidates, let’s have a fair fight and spare our banners, says Milton Foo.
The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for N10 Pending said 10 out of 12 of his campaign banners put up since Dec 7 had disappeared.
“We put up 12 banners, and 10 of them have gone missing or were stolen. I do not know, but the whereabouts is and remains unknown,” he said.
The only banners left standing are at Tanah Puteh area, the Bintawa roundabout and City 2000.
Foo also asserted that the content of his banners was all about facts and not defamatory, thus he saw no reason for the banners that were for campaigning purposes to be taken down intentionally by certain unknown parties.
Foo, who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth secretary-general, expressed his hope for a fair competition in the 12th Sarawak State Election (PRN12).
“Let this election be fair and just. Let there be no taint in this election.
“Intentionally destroying or taking down the opponents’ banners, flags or posters are dirty tricks that we should avoid,” he told the press at the SUPP Pending branch here today.
Meanwhile, Pending election agent Bong Siak Peng said a police report over the alleged theft of the banners will be lodged by today as it is against the law.
Replacements for the missing banners will be installed, but with an additional line saying: “Brothers (and sisters), be merciful. Spare our banners!”
In the coming polls, Foo will face four opponents, namely Democratic Action Party (DAP)’s Violet Yong who is the incumbent for Pending, Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK)’s Teo Kuang Kim, Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB)’s Tan Kay Hock, and Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi)’s Chan Chee Hiong. — Dayakdaily
