SIBU, Sept 24: Two senior taxi drivers who created a commotion following a misunderstanding, have been told to be tolerant with each other.

Sibu district deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat said in the incident at about 12 noon on Tuesday at Sibu Hospital Taxi parking lot, a 66-year-old taxi driver accused the other driver, who is 54, for scratching his taxi door.

“The complainant was waiting for a customer. Just then the suspect opened his taxi door. The complainant accused him of scratching his door but the suspect denied it,” he said.

A heated argument ensued which resulted in the suspect punching the complainant on his face and at the back of his head.

The complainant drove to the Sungai Merah police station to lodge a report.

“The suspect was called to the police station. He denied causing the scratch mark on the complainant’s taxi. However he admitted punching him,” said Supt Collin.

However after a discussion, both parties apologised to each other. The complainant too withdrew his report.

“Both were advised by the police to be tolerant to each other as they are also members of the taxi association,’ he said. — DayakDaily
