Female cook falls victim to snatch thief in Tudan

MIRI, July 18: A 53 year-old female cook had experienced a misfortune of falling victim to snatch theft on her way to a supermarket in Tudan last Sunday.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the victim was robbed by an unknown stranger riding a motorcycle in the 7.15pm incident at the supermarket car park.

Fortunately, she was unhurt in the incident.

“Prior to the incident, the victim was walking towards the main entrance of the supermarket after she parked her car. She was planning to buy some groceries.

“She was walking, while clutching her handphone, when suddenly a stranger approached on a motorcycle and took the mobile device,” he said when contacted.

A report was lodged in the same evening at Lutong police station.

Lim said the police is investigating the case under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.

He added that the victim was not able to catch the glimpse of the suspect as the scene, as the area was quite dark and quiet at the time. — DayakDaily
