Federation of Chinese Associations Miri Division faces deregistration notice from Registrar of Societies

KUCHING, June 8: The Federation of Chinese Associations Miri Division has been issued with a show-cause letter by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

According to the letter dated June 6, 2024, the association was issued the notice under Sub-section (2) Section 12 of the Societies Act 1966, stating that its registration will be deregistered after 30 days unless it provides satisfactory explanations as to why it should not be deregistered.

It was alleged that the association breached several rules related to changes of office bearers, non-compliance with meeting quorum, and failure to meet certain society guidelines during its meetings last year.

In the letter, the ROS indicated that these issues had caused dissatisfaction among the association members, who questioned the validity of its president and secretary, the results of its special general meeting, and raised opposition over the conduct of its general meeting. — DayakDaily
