KUCHING, Jan 9: The Youth and Sports Ministry Malaysia wants to learn from Sarawak’s strength in aquatic sports.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, its minister Hannah Yeoh said her ministry also hopes to understand what differentiates Sarawak from other states.

“What you do here for the children from a young age, how they develop and become like (Datuk) Pandalela (Rinong) — those are among things we want to focus on as well,” she told reporters after a courtesy visit to the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Meanwhile, Yeoh said among the matter discussed with the Premier during the visit was the cooperation that can be done for youth and sports development.

She also said the Premier had shared his ideas and views, especially on multiculturalism in the strength of unity in Sarawak and how these ideas can be applied to build youth and sports.

Pointing out that the Premier’s concept and ideas are interesting, Yeoh said she would bring the matter to Putrajaya for further discussion to develop the industry.

“I have also shared my limitations, and the Premier of Sarawak is open enough for us to discuss.

“We also have to work closely with the Sarawak Youth and Sports Minister, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and he will meet me in Putrajaya on January 16,” she added. — DayakDaily
