KUCHING, July 27: The federal government will improve loan schemes under Syarikat Jaminan Kredit Perumahan Bhd (SJKP) by providing financing guarantees up to 120 per cent of house prices up to RM300,000.
Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the guarantee will enable all home ownership costs to be covered through loans including downpayment, legal fees, appraisal and insurance fees as well as the purchase of furniture and renovation costs.
“A government guarantee of up to RM5 billion will be provided,” he said during the launching ceremony for the “Madani Economy: Empowering the People” framework in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said Ministry of Local Government Development is working on a National Housing Action Plan which includes setting out housing supply requirements based on metrics such as the ratio of median house prices to median incomes.
He added the provision of public housing is also being continued in addition to boosting the rental market to meet housing needs. —DayakDaily
