KUCHING, Aug 27: The Federal government shows confidence in the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) by retaining the number of its ministries and deputy ministerial posts in the new Cabinet lineup, says Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

According to Fazzrudin, he is pleased that with the newly refreshed Cabinet which comprised familiar faces and new faces, it will be able to hit the ground running to steer the nation towards recovery.

“For Gabungan Parti Sarawak has retained the number of ministries and deputy ministerial posts which shows the federal government’s confidence in Sarawak’s leadership to help the nation during these testing times,” he said in a statement today.

He was commenting on the unveiling of the Cabinet lineup by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to prepare the new government in its fight against Covid-19 and facilitate economic recovery.

Fazzrudin pointed out that with GPS Parliamentary chief whip and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof being reappointed as Senior Minister of Works, he believed that it will ensure continuity in development projects that are being undertaken in Sarawak

“This is in terms of implementing the Pan Borneo Highway which will complement the other stretches of road that is being built in the State including the Coastal Road Network and the Second Trunk Road,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fazzrudin also applauded the appointment of Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin as the Health Minister.

He said Khairy has been one of the top performers in the last Cabinet as the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister along with the coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP).

“It is my hope that this Cabinet can perform for the sake of the nation and deliver. I also hope that the lineup will get the required support from all parties and the general public as we need to focus on the nation and not politics,” he said. — DayakDaily
