KUCHING, Sept 8: Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman urges all parties to cooperate with the authorities and give them the necessary leeway to implement the anti-pandemic strategies for the State to recover from Covid-19.

Following a briefing today by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on the current state of the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, Fazzrudin gathered that Sarawak is still in the containment phase and will gradually move towards the mitigation phase in the next few months as the focus is now on accelerating the vaccination for teenagers below 18-years-old.

ā€œI commend SDMC for organising this session as it allows better understanding of the policies of the State government in ensuring that we can curb the spread of Covid-19 and allowing the state to recover.

ā€œThe state-level committee has been transparent in its plan for Sarawak to transition to the endemic phase and it is hoped that with the new phase, the stateā€™s population can live with Covid-19 as we reopen the economy and provide relief to affected individuals and businesses.

ā€œThe session too, was attended by opposition representatives which is a reflection of the state governmentā€™s bipartisan approach to tackling Covid-19 as well as a ā€˜whole of societyā€™ approach in overcoming the current crisis,ā€ he said in a statement today.

Fazzrudin added that the briefing by SDMC to all elected representatives will help them to better explain the governmentā€™s approach to tackle the pandemic to the people, and also allow uninterrupted services to be rendered by the peopleā€™s representatives to those affected.

At the same time, Fazzrudin, who is Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy youth chief urges the people to continue to play their roles and do their part in ensuring the number of Covid-19 cases can be brought down to a manageable level. ā€” DayakDaily
