KUCHING, July 5: A faulty transformer at the Simpang Tiga 11kV Substation caused power outage to several parts of Simpang Tiga here on Tuesday night.

In a statement yesterday, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) explained that the faulty transformer had caused a power trip at the Simpang Tiga Substation at 6.13pm, causing a localised outage affecting power supply to Jalan Mendu, Jalan Batu Lintang, Jalan Bukit Hantu and Jalan Manggis.

“Once notified of the incident and the cause confirmed, Sesco immediately deployed a mobile generator set to progressively restore supply to the affected areas, with full restoration by 8.30pm as a technical team began replacement work of the faulty transformer.

“The Simpang Tiga system was normalised at 3am, following completion of the transformer replacement work,” it said.

SEB stated that it aimed to restore power within the shortest time possible to minimise inconvenience to customers in the event of supply interruptions.

Power supply was temporarily restored via SEB’s mobile generator while transformer replacement was carried out on site.

The corporation advised its customers to immediately alert SEB call centre at 1300-88-3111 or email customercare@sarawakenergy.com.my for assistance to ensure speedy restoration of power supply caused by technical issues.

Customers may also report outages through SEB’s mobile app ‘SEB cares’, which can be downloaded from Android’s Google Play Store and Apple App Store for iOS. — DayakDaily
