Father and son missing after fishing trip in Kabong, boat found drifting by villagers

KUCHING, Sept 4: A father and son, both local fishermen from Kabong, have been missing since yesterday (Sept 3) after their boat was discovered drifting 5.5 nautical miles from the shoreline this morning.

The boat belonging to Tuah Bujang, 57, and his son, Mohd Aiman Tuah, 24, was spotted by villagers at 9am before being towed to the Kabong jetty, the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre (PGO) said in a TVS news report.

However, both men remain unaccounted for despite the discovery of their vessel.

The Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) Kuching confirmed that a coordinated search and rescue (SAR) operation involving the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and other agencies is ongoing.

Director of Tanjung Manis Maritime Zone, Maritime Commander Mahkos Juing, said efforts are now concentrated around the victims’ last known location, with search operations covering 13.6 square nautical miles. — DayakDaily
