SIBU, Dec 3: A 45-year-old man in Daro is being held under custody for the alleged rape of a girl from the time she was underage.

Matu-Daro district police chief DSP Neil Baginda in a statement today said the arrest of the suspect was made four hours after a police report was lodged by the 19-year-old victim on Dec 2 at the Bintulu police station.

The suspect was arrested in his village in Kampung Penipah, Daro

“The girl was raped several times since 2004 when she was 14 years old. The victim had also claimed that the suspect, who is a farmer, raped her at his farm in March this year when she came back from school holiday,” he added.

Neil said the alleged rape continued in early October.

“Each time the victim refused to have sex with him, he would threaten not to send her to school,” he continued.

He said the victim would be sent to Sibu Hospital for medical observation.

Meanwhile, the suspect is being detained at the Daro police station lock-up for investigation under Section 376B of the Penal Code. —DayakDaily
