SIBU, March 10: A farmer died in an accident at Jalan Kanowit-Durin last night.
According to Kanowit District police chief, DSP Tega Bilong, the 42-year-old victim, Bedon Tihau from Rumah Tihau, Sungai Ranan was on his way home by motorcycle from Sibu at 8.10pm when the accident occurred.
“It was believed that he had lost control of the machine and crashed into the road shoulder,” said Tega.
Due to the impact of the accident, the motorcycle went into the drain.
“Paramedics from Kanowit Hospital who came to his aid, pronounced him dead at the scene,” he added.
Tega said at the time of the accident, the place was dark as there were no street lighting.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.—DayakDaily
