Famous chef Martin Yan does his bit for sick kids in Sarawak

KUCHING, May 17: Kuching Koo Soo Chefs Association successfully raised about RM8,000 for Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) and Society for Critically Sick Children (SOS Kids) through its 2-day cooking demonstration with world-renowned chef Martin Yan.

The event was held in conjunction with Malaysia Koo Soo Restaurants and Chefs Association’s 39th annual general meeting (AGM) and the 2nd Asia Pacific Food Culture Conference and International Culinary Art Demonstration.

The event was organised by Kuching Koo Soo Chefs Association, supported by Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports. It is also part of the association’s social responsibilities.

The two-day charity cooking demonstration was held at Aeroville Mall on May 15 and at The Spring Shopping Mall the following day. About RM4,700 were raised during the cooking demonstration at Aeroville Mall, while the amount raised at The Spring was about RM3,300.

Dishes demonstrated by Yan were steamed empurau fish, XO sauced river prawns and midin salad.

Yan used Sarawak fresh and local ingredients such as curry leaves, local avocados, cili padi and red ginger-wort (tepus) for his demonstration. — DayakDaily
