KUCHING, May 9: A family of four and two others claimed trial to possessing methamphetamine.
Sessions Court Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd Yusoff fixed June 20 for pre trial case management and July 4 and 5 for trial.
Syally Jaharah Othman, Hew Yu Hock, Mohammad Safberi Saee, Hamfzah Mohamad, Nurshahira Natasha Mohammad Safberi, and Muhammad Norhaizammer Mohammad Safberi were jointly charged with one charge. Whereas Syally Jaharah was charged with two charges.
Syally Jaharah is wife to Mohammad Safberi while Nurshahira Natasha and Muhammad Norhaizammer are their children. Hew and Hamfzah are friends of Mohammad Safberi.
They are jointly charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing 37.63g of methamphetamine, in a bedroom of a house located in Taman Malihah, at about 2pm on November 19, 2018.
They arejointly charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act, which carries a imprisonment term of not less than five years or life sentence and whipping not less than 10 strokes, if convicted.
Syally Jaharah is charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act for possessing 0.06g of methamphetamine in a bedroom of a house located in Taman Malihah, at about 2pm on November 19, 2018.
This Act carries a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment not less than 5 years or both if convicted.
DPP Nurfadzlin Mahmad Zulhasnan prosecuted. Hew and Hamfzah represented by counsel Francis Teron and the other accused were not represented. — DayakDaily
