KUCHING, March 11: A married couple has been placed on a six-month peace bond after the court found them responsible for provoking the husband’s younger brother during a dispute over a family inheritance property.
The couple acknowledged the court order issued under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.
The case stemmed from an incident on March 1, when the husband lodged a police report around 8.30pm outside a residence at Rock View Estate.
He claimed that his younger brother had threatened him by saying, “If you come, I slash you.”
Following the report, the younger brother was detained on March 3 to assist in investigations.
However, CCTV footage from the scene later revealed that the couple were the ones who instigated the confrontation.
The footage showed the couple arriving at the location with an object believed to be a metal cutter. The husband was seen entering the property while his wife forcefully pushed the gate open.
To prevent further conflict, the Magistrate’s Court placed the couple on a six-month peace bond with a RM500 surety (without deposit) and a local guarantor.
Both individuals appeared in court without legal representation. — DayakDaily
