KUCHING, Dec 4: Sarawakians feel elated for Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof’s recent appointment in the Federal Cabinet since a deputy prime minister post from Sarawak has been in the prayers of many, says political pundit Dato Peter Minos.
He said a DPM post is highly symbolic as it is a huge recognition by the federal government that Sarawak is a fundamental contributor to federal politics and other affairs.
“A second man to the prime minister, a DPM gives direct advice and support to the PM and the Federal Cabinet decisions. This by itself is very important.
“For a Sarawakian to be in this position, it matters and means a lot to Sarawak. For a Sarawakian to wield this position, it cannot be helped that Sarawakians feel pleased.
“Also, it is in everyone’s hope and expectation that Fadillah will prioritise Sarawak in whatever he plans, says and does as DPM,” said Minos in a statement today.
He also believed that the DPM appointment to Sarawak upgrades Sarawak as a whole in terms of national politics and development. — DayakDaily
