KUCHING, June 20: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, together with officers from the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) as the implementing agency, recently visited Faith Methodist Church on Jalan Hup Kee to kickstart a project funded by Yap’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2023 allocation.
The project involves the construction of additional car parks by covering the existing drains in front of the church.
According to a press release, the project, amounting to RM100,000, addresses the church’s need for more parking spaces due to its growing congregation.
The visit, organised by MBKS’s Engineering Department, marked the handover of the letter of award and site to the successful contractor, Syarikat Pembinaan Sampun Jaya.
The project is slated for completion before the second week of October 2024.
During the visit, Yap emphasised the importance of diligent monitoring and supervision by MBKS officers to ensure that the construction adheres to the specified scope of works and bill of quantities.
He also urged the contractor to carry out the work without delay and with minimal inconvenience to churchgoers and local residents.
“I will coordinate closely with MBKS and the contractor to ensure timely completion of this RTP project,” Yap assured.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance facilities and infrastructure in Kota Sentosa, with additional RTP projects expected to be awarded to contractors soon. — DayakDaily
