KUCHING, Nov 5: The upcoming RM50 million Tebedu Economic and Cultural Complex is envisioned as a catalyst for economic and cultural growth, with facilities aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, creative industries and local businesses while strengthening Tebedu’s role as an international gateway.

In a Facebook post, Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada shared a series of artist’s impressions of the proposed complex, which could feature an exhibition hall, arts and crafts market, dance studio and bus transit hub, among other facilities.

He said the proposed development was the result of ideas and plans shaped through discussions and engagement sessions with various stakeholders.

“Among the key concepts highlighted is the construction of the Tebedu Economic and Cultural Complex, serving as a catalyst project with the potential to elevate Tebedu’s image and role as a centre for economic growth, trade, tourism, and culture.

“This complex is proposed as an integrated hub that not only provides business and commercial facilities, but also serves as a centre for cultural activities, creative industry development, entrepreneurship, and the promotion of local products,” he said.

Simon noted that the RM50 million project had already been approved and awarded to the successful contractor. Plans for the project began in early 2022 through the organisation of the Tebedu Development Lab under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) project initiative.

“Let us together pray that the development of this project proceeds smoothly and successfully becomes the catalyst for the progress of Bandar Mutiara Tebedu, an International Gateway,” he added. – DayakDaily
