KUCHING, Jan 9: Everrise, one of Sarawak’s largest supermarket chains, has contributed boxes of essential household items to the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), aiming to provide relief and support to underprivileged families in the Kuching South area.
In a symbolic ceremony at the MBKS Headquarters today, Everrise chief executive officer Melody Chum handed over the items to Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.
Wee commended Everrise for its leadership in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and for setting an exemplary standard for businesses in Sarawak in contributing to the well-being of the community.
“On behalf of MBKS and the community, I extend my sincere gratitude to Everrise for their generosity and thoughtfulness. This donation is not merely an act of giving—it is a testament to Everrise’s deep understanding of the pressing needs in our community and their commitment to addressing them through impactful CSR initiatives.
“By providing these essential household items, Everrise brings much-needed relief to those struggling and offers a sense of hope and care during challenging times,” he said.
The Mayor also highlighted the importance of partnerships between public and private sectors in addressing social challenges and addressing the needs of residents.
“It is through collective action and collaboration like this that we can create a more compassionate, inclusive, and resilient society,” he added.
The donated items will be distributed through MBKS’s community programmes, ensuring that they reach the most vulnerable members of society. — DayakDaily
