KUCHING, April 18: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will begin disbursing payments for the special RM10,000 withdrawal today instead of the planned April 20 as previously announced, said Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, the finance minister stated that he believes many people are relieved because it would be able to ease the financial burden faced by EPF members.
“Applications for this withdrawal are open to members under the age of 55 from April 1 to April 30, 2022,” he said.
He went on to say that the payments of the special withdrawal would be credited gradually and hoped it would brighten up the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this year.
In a special press conference on March 16, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made based on a study among the people who are still economically affected, losing income, and are rebuilding their lives. — DayakDaily
