KUCHING, June 22: Cash prizes totalling RM39,500 are up for grabs in the Integrity Writing Competition 2019.

It is organised by the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) in collaboration with the Sarawak Writers Association (Penulis).

This competition is divided into the following categories: poetry writing, Malay short story, Malay essay writing, English short story, English essay writing and Iban short story. There are also categories for primary and secondary school students.

It is open to all Sarawakians, including other Malaysians residing in the state, and will run from June 1 to Nov 30.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip told a press conference yesterday that the main purpose of the competition is to inculcate the spirit of applying integrity in own self, family, community and the country.

“We want to create awareness among the community on the issue of integrity and corruption, especially for our youths. Through this competition, we believe it will help to deliver messages to members of the public,” he said.

Meanwhile, the organisers are also introducing the use of QR code for the downloading of the official entry forms. In addition, more information can be obtained by scanning the code.

The prize-giving ceremony will be held sometime in February next year to coincide with the department’s anniversary celebration.
