BINTULU, Aug 19: Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn has urged employers in Bintulu to list out job opportunities and open up their premises for benchmarking visits.

He said as Bintulu is an industrial area, students and youths alike especially in the Division and nearby areas must seize the opportunity to take up technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as more skilled workers are needed to drive the industries.

“I would also like to urge the industries to be more proactive and willing to become strategic partners in promoting TVET to students.

“This can be done by highlighting the job opportunities available in their industries and opening their premises for benchmarking visits to school or college students,” he said when officiating at the TVET and STEM Carnival 2022 organised by Bintulu Vocational College at Paragon Mall here today.

Sagah also lauded Bintulu Vocational College for its successful collaboration with some industries namely Terapan Dinamik(M) Sdn Bhd, Restoran Wazzaabi Fusion and Shell MDS.

“I hope that more industries will come forward and form such partnership not only with the Bintulu Vocational College but also other technical colleges in Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
