SERIAN, Oct 23: An elderly woman succumbed to her injuries after she was knocked down by a 4WD vehicle at Jalan Baki-Riih near Kampung Bantang this afternoon.
State Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu disclosed that the victim Ngihem Tuwin, 72, was walking on the left side of the road when the accident happened at 12.10pm.
“She was walking towards Baki Baru market when the 4WD travelling from behind knocked her down. Medical team rushed her to Serian hospital where she died at 3.05pm while being treated at the emergency ward,” Alexson said.
Police were investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by dangerous or reckless driving. —DayakDaily
